Post 16 Curriculum
Priesthorpe works in close partnership with two other local high schools to provide a broad range of academic and vocational post 16 options. Follow the link below to view the Pudsey Confederation Prospectus.
More able students are encouraged to select four level 3 options in year 12 and to continue with three in year 13 to allow progression to Higher Education (HE). Usually students will follow ‘A’ level programmes but some choose ‘mixed’ programmes to maintain a vocational interest or specialisation.
Some students can follow a one year level 2 programme, which builds on their key stage four achievements, whilst developing their literacy and numeracy to allow access to level 3 programmes the following year.
Students continue to be closely supported in pastoral groups, led by form tutors, who run a study skills programme to enable students to make a smooth transition to this challenging higher level of study.
Curriculum enhancement opportunities are provided for students to gain the experience and breadth of skills necessary to be able to compete and gain advantage in the employment and HE markets.
The Head of Sixth Form leads all aspects of our Post 16 provision and actively supports students in their progression from our sixth form.
